In January, 1928, members of the Seattle Yacht Club wanted to create a boat that would revive a love for sailing in the younger generations. Ted Geary designed an 18’ boat and five orders for Gearys were placed. The original cost of the boat was $200.

The Geary may have started with a small fleet but it grew in popularity and expanded its home to Lake Arrowhead. The Geary fleet has increased in size over the years and continues to enjoy success at the Lake Arrowhead Yacht Club.
